FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

  • What should I expect during my physical therapy first visit?

The first visit will include an evaluation and treatment. We will ask questions about your symptoms, health history and goals for physical therapy. We will assess mobility, strength and perform specific and appropriate orthopedic tests to give us confirmation of diagnosis and potential pain drivers. Based upon findings, our treatments include both manual therapy and appropriate exercises. Lastly, we’ll give you a home program to initiate your care.

  • What should I wear?

Wear comfortable clothes that are easy to move around in. Think workout gear/athleisure wear. We have private rooms available for all clients.

  • How long is each session?

Each session typically lasts 45 min- 1 hour. Expect hands on work and to move your body.

  • What is pelvic floor physical therapy?

Pelvic floor physical therapy involves treating pelvic floor muscles, part of our deep core system. The pelvic floor muscles are responsible for a variety of functions including supporting the pelvic organs, assisting in bowel and bladder control, and contributing to sexual pleasure. These muscles can be painful and tight or weak/injured in both men and women. These muscles are assessed via vaginal or rectal palpation. All examinations and interventions are based on patient comfort. Examining the lumbar spine, hips and pelvis are also an important part of pelvic floor PT.

  • Who needs pelvic floor physical therapy (PT)?

Anyone suffering from pelvic pain, sexual dysfunction, or urinary/bowel dysfunction are good candidates for pelvic floor PT (all genders). Every postpartum mother would benefit from receiving pelvic floor physical therapy (both vaginal and cesarean section deliveries), those rehabbing diastasis recti abdominis (DRA), as well as those recovering from postoperative pelvic and abdominal surgeries.

  • Do you accept insurance?
